Joe Petrali, Chief Steward of USAC congratulates driver Jack Reed. As well as being the chief timer of land speed records, Petrali is also noted in aviation. Joe was aboard the Hughes Spruce Goose in the capacity of Flight engineer when the giant wooden seaplane (mis-named since it was constructed mostly of Birch) made its historic one and only flight.
