These views of the Left Main Landing Gear show the gear extended (left photo) and retracted (right photo). Here the gear is mounted in a test stand simulating the mounting system hard points of the nacelle. The triangular frames on each side of the gear assembly mount to the nacelle and carry the gear loads. McCreary 9-3/4" diameter general aviation tail wheel tires and tubes are mounted on custom built nine-spoke, two-piece aluminum wheels. The function of the prototype oleo strut will be provided in the model with a calibrated compression spring located inside the main strut. The retract actuator air cylinder is 1.152" inside diameter. Bellcrank linkage (upper left side of left photo) opens and closes the gear doors as on the prototype. The folding Up/Down Lock is in the upper center of right photo. The Up/Down Lock Latch (dark object in the center of the Lock) is operated by a 5/16" ID x 1" travel air cylinder.
