Net-Venture Dial-Up Setup in Windows 95 / 98

Follow the tutorial below to set up your dialer.

1. From your Desktop or Start menu, double click My Computer.
|
|
|
2. Double click the Dial Up Networking folder.
|
|
|
3. Double click Make New Connection.
|
|
4. Click Next on the introduction screen.
|
|
|
5. Type Net-Venture in the section for the name of the computer you are dialing. Type in your Display Name, this is the name people will see when you send them an email. (Ex. First and Last name) then click Next.

6. Click Next.
|
|
|
7. Enter the area code and the phone number of the modem you are dialing to into the Telephone Number field. Leave the Area Code field blank.
|
|
|
8. Click Next and then click Finish.
|
|
Initial Setup is now complete. Proceed with the following:
|
|
9. Right click on Net-Venture that you just created and choose Create Shortcut. Click Yes when it asks if you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop.
|
|
|
10. Right click on Net-Venture again that and choose Properties.
|
|
11. A window will come up with 4 tabs. Be sure you are in the General tab.
|
|
|
12. Uncheck Use Area Code and Dialing Properties.
|
|
13. Click on the Server Types tab at the top.
|
|
|
14. Uncheck Log on to Network, NetBEUI, and IPX/SPX.
|
|
15. Click OK. Close up the Dial-Up Networking folder.
|
|
Steps 16 & 17 are only needed if you want your computer to dial up automatically when you open up your web browser.

|
16. Go to Start, then Settings, then Control Panel. Double click Internet Options. Go to the Connections tab.
|
|
|
17. Set it to Always Dial My Default Connection and then highlight the Net-Venture account you created and then click Set Default.
|
|
Click OK and you are done!
|
|
You can either use the Connection shortcut you created on your Desktop, or you can simply open your browser, and you will get one of the following Connection boxes:
