Click Internet Service Cable Modem Setup
Please perform the following steps for setting up your new cable modem for use with the Click! Network and Net-Venture.
back
  1. Start by unpacking your cable modem and its contents from the box.

  2. Hook up one end of the cable line to the Data Outlet installed by Click! Network and hook up the other end of the cable line to the back of the cable modem.

  3. Hook up the power cable to the back of the cable modem and plug into a power strip or wall outlet.

  4. Please wait for the cable modem to link up to the network. This is indicated when the cable light (the second light down) on the cable modem becomes solid, which can take up to 5 minutes initially.

  5. If you already have a network card in your computer, skip to Step 12.

  6. Next shut down and unhook your computer from the cables connected into the back of it (take notes on where the cables where plugged in originally).

  7. Remove your computer's case. *

  8. Locate an empty white PCI slot (Remove any slot covers that might get in the way of you installing the RJ45 Ethernet cable into the network card).

  9. Take the network card out of the box and insert it into the PCI slot.

  10. Fasten the network card to the back of your computer frame with screws.

  11. Put the case back on your computer.

  12. Hook up the white cable (RJ45 Ethernet) that came with your cable modem to both the network card and to the cable modem.

  13. Turn on your computer.
When the computer boots back up open up Internet Explorer and see if you can browse the Internet! All TCP/IP settings are dynamic and server assigned-based settings.
If your computer tries to dial-up your previous Internet Service Provider cancel the dial-up connection, then right click on Internet Explorer on your desktop, choose "Properties", then go to the "Connections" tab, and choose "Never Dial a Connection". Then choose "OK".
* By removing your computer's case you may be voiding your manufacturer's warranty. Neither Net-Venture nor Click! Network are liable for any damages that result from your computer being opened. If for any reason you feel uncomfortable following these directions, please give us a call at 253-942-8400 to set up an appointment for a technician to set up your computer for a nominal fee.
