How to Setup Multple Identities in Outlook Express 6
The main purpose of creating multiple identities is to allow multiple people to use Outlook Express and keep their email separate from each other.

This document assumes that you have an email account setup in Outlook Express already, if you do not please first refer to Email Setup - Outlook Express 6
back
1. Click on File, choose Identities. On the slide out menu choose Add New Identity.
2. Type in the name of the person that will use this new Identity and click Ok. You have the option here of requiring a password. Please note that if you set a password here it is only for accessing that Identity and is not necessarily the same password you use for your email account. If you lose, or, forget this password, Net-Venture will be unable to help you retrieve it or any email from that account over the phone.

We generally do not recommend this option for most users. Use this feature at your own risk.
3. Click Yes when asked if you would like to switch to the New Identity.
4. Type in your Display name, this is the name people will see when you send them an email. (Ex. First and Last name) then click Next.
5. Type in your email address and then click Next.
6. Settings should be:
  • My Incoming Server is a POP3
  • Incoming Mail (POP3) Server name is: mail.nventure.com
  • Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server name is: smtp2.nventure.com
Click Next.
7. Your Account name is your email address. Type your Password. Then click Next.
8. Click Finish.
9. Click Tools, then Accounts.
10. Click the Mail tab, and highlight your account, then click Properties.
11. On the Account Properties window click the Servers tab. Make sure to check My Outgoing (SMTP) Server Requires Authentication. Then click the Settings button to the right.
12. Verify this option is set to Use same settings as my incoming mail server and then click Ok.
13. Click Ok.
14. Click on File, then choose Identities and on the slide out menu choose Manage Identities.
15. Uncheck Use this Identity when starting a program and click Close.
16. Then go back to File, and click Exit and Log Off Identity. Outlook Express should close.
17. The next time you open Outlook Express you should be prompted with the Identity Loginwindow. Simply click on the Identity name you wish to log into and click Ok.

If you need to create more identities, simply start this process over again.
