How to Disable the Preview Pane in Outlook Express 5/6
|

For security reasons you might want to disable the message preview pane in Outlook Express. This feature enables the viewing of message contents by automatically opening a message once it has been highlighted.
By disabling this feature you help protect yourself against viruses in emails that execute themselves when the message is opened. Please note that turning this feature off is not enough protection against viruses. Net-Venture strongly recommends that you keep an updated anti virus program installed and in use on your computer at all times. Net-Venture is not responsible for viruses that reach and or infect your computer through email or any other means.

1. In Outlook Express click on View, then Layout.
|
|
|
2. Uncheck Show preview pane and click Apply.
|
|
|
3. Your Outlook Express should now look similar to this. In order to open an email now you just need to double click on it. It should now open in it's own new window.
